All Things Contour
Contour is the scary shade in your compact but it's one of the most impactful! Contour creates shape and dimension, it helps camouflage features you may not be most confident about and I call it the "game changer" shade. Here are some contouring tips to help you feel more confident with this product.
I am breaking down some of the main areas you contour. Just remember contour "typically" goes on the hard places of the face and contour (dark shade) pushes features backwards while highlights (lighter shades) brings features forward!

Forehead :

If you feel you have a shorter forehead, you'll want to keep your contour closer to the hairline. That way you still get the dimension without losing any height to make your forehead appear too short.

If you feel you have a taller forehead, you'll want to bring your contour down a bit further. This will help give the appearance of a shorter forehead.

Temples :

For those with a more narrow forehead, or even my more mature ladies, you may want to avoid this area. You don't want to lose too much width or volume in the temples.

If you feel like your forehead is a bit wide, you can bring that contour down to the temples along the hairline. This will help create the illusion of a more narrow forehead.

Cheekbones :

For my ladies with a longer, more narrow face, you're going to want your contour to follow a horizontal line from the top of your ear to the corner of your nose. By lessening the sharpness of that line, you're still giving yourself the appearance of cheekbones without making your face appear too thin or sunken in. You can even add a little upward turn, think a Nike swoosh, at the end to add a little extra lift. You will to stop your contour line at the outer corner of the eye.

If you feel you have a more full, rounder face you can contour in a more vertical line. You'll start at the top of the ear and go towards the outer corner of the mouth. This sharp line will give a more thinned out appearance and cheekbone. You too will stop your contour around the outer corner of the eye.

*Regardless of face shape, you'll want your contour to hug your cheekbone and you'll want to blend it upwards to avoid drawing the face down. I personally like to place my contour a bit higher, actually on the cheekbone, so that I get a little added lift.

Jawline :

When applying contour to the jawline, make sure to apply it ON the jawline underneath versus on the face. For my more mature ladies, you may want to avoid applying it on your chin and just stick to either side.
